Just 24 hours after a video circulated on social media showing an individual chopping off both hands of a homeless person outside a convenience store, the presumed hands cutter’ was found dead in the municipality of Macuspana this Tuesday.

On Monday, a video emerged in broad daylight, where a person with their face covered by a motorcycle helmet assaulted and mutilated the hands of a young man living on the streets, known locally as ‘mascarita.’

Hours later, a male identified as Freddy Cruz, 30 years old, was found shot dead on Reforma Street in the Centro neighborhood of the same town. According to initial reports, this location is very close to the convenience store facing the ‘four faces’ clock, and it is believed to be the same individual responsible for the mutilation.

The body of the so-called “mocha cutter” was recovered by the State Attorney General’s Office based in that municipality, which will conduct the corresponding investigations.

According to local accounts, the homeless man, who used to open and close the doors of an Oxxo convenience store, had allegedly stolen items from his attacker on several occasions, including a shovel.

When authorities seemingly ignored the complaints made by the presumed victim, he took justice into his own hands by mutilating the young homeless man—an act that the people of Macuspana consider as ‘savagery.’

It has also been confirmed that after being mutilated, ‘mascarita’ was taken to the Macuspana hospital, where his condition is reported as stable.
