The Mexican Association of Travel Agencies (AMAV) in Tabasco is pushing forward with plans to incorporate local routes into the national tourism offering its president announced recently.
Although Tabasco has not yet been included in the official list of destinations for the highly anticipated Mayan Train project, AMAV is working tirelessly to ensure that the state’s stations are integrated into official promotional packages. According to Jorge Luis Ruiz Pérez, the industry leader, efforts will be intensified in the second half of the year to achieve this goal.
The local tourism sector is expected to experience a 5 percent growth in activity this summer, driven by festivals and tours organized by state agencies. Despite the ongoing economic challenges, tour package prices have remained stable due to agreements with hoteliers and transporters that set rates valid until December 31, 2025.
Ruiz Pérez also highlighted the Mayan Train’s differentiated rate structure, which offers unique pricing options at both national and local levels. This move aims to boost regional tourism in Tabasco and strengthen the southeast of Mexico as a tourist destination.
