VILLAHERMOSA, TABASCO — Authorities from the Institute of Civil Protection of the State of Tabasco (IPCET) are urging residents to take strict preventive measures following a sudden increase in structural fires across Villahermosa.
The alert comes after emergency crews responded to two major property blazes over a single weekend. The most severe incident occurred during the early hours of Friday morning in the Casa Blanca neighborhood. The fire completely destroyed a warehouse belonging to Casa Gutza, an importing and plastics distribution company. Armando Pulido Pardo, the coordinator of IPCET, reported that while the building’s cardboard and plastic inventory resulted in total property loss, the incident fortunately caused no casualties or injuries.
A second fire broke out on Saturday in a residential building located between Pino Suárez and Madero streets. Firefighters successfully contained the flames, which originated in the residential complex’s parking area. While the building structure was saved, the intense heat and fire managed to damage two nearby vehicles, including a van and a truck.
IPCET officials have reiterated the vital importance of households and businesses maintaining clear emergency prevention plans to mitigate risks as regional emergency services remain on high alert.
