On the morning of Sunday, December 29, 2024, the lifeless body of an executed man was discovered on the Villahermosa-Frontera highway at kilometer 23, near the entrance to Tamulté de las Sabanas.

The corpse, in an advanced state of decomposition, was found handcuffed on the side of a dirt road. Half of the body was inside a bag, with the belly exposed. The man was wearing black pants, a black shirt with the word “California” in orange letters, white socks, and no shoes. The body was swollen, with peeling skin and worms due to decomposition.

State Police officers arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area while waiting for agents from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to conduct the necessary procedures and transfer the body to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo). The road was closed, causing traffic congestion in the area.

This crime adds to the murder of three other people the previous day. One incident occurred around 1 a.m. in the Buena Vista neighborhood of Centro, where residents found a man shot dead inside a truck. In the afternoon, two more people were shot dead in Cárdenas. One man was killed near a shopping center, and a woman was shot inside her home in the Taxco area. Despite being taken to the hospital by her family, she was pronounced dead.
