This investment by Pemex and Eni Mexico will be for drilling and construction projects in surface facilities, according to the CNH.

The National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) approved this Thursday in an extraordinary session the investment of $1.8 billion to be made by Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and Eni Mexico in three oil projects in the regions of Tabasco, Veracruz, and Campeche during 2025.

“These are formidable amounts of investments, but the resources we have for extraction are worth it and justify it. This investment will be allocated for drilling and construction of surface facilities, some of which will be useful for other wells later on,” said Agustín Díaz Lastra, president commissioner of the CNH.

This investment amount is divided into three programs. The first to be approved was presented by Pemex Exploration and Production through contract CNH-R03-L01-AS-CS-13/2018 located in shallow waters off the coasts of Tabasco and Veracruz in the Southeast Basins oil province, requiring an investment of $287.3 million.

Subsequently, the Governing Body approved the Pemex project that will need more resources next year.

Pemex Exploration and Production presented a development plan for extraction for contract CNH-M1-EK-BALAM/2017 located in shallow waters off the coast of Campeche, which will require $788.5 million.

Francisco Castellanos Páez, researcher of the extraction technical unit and its supervision, indicated that this program will require this amount of resources because investments that were not made during 2024 had to be postponed, and resources planned for 2026 will be brought forward.

Finally, the CNH approved an investment amount of $716.8 million by Eni Mexico as part of contract CNH-R01-L02-A1-/2015 to be carried out in territorial waters of the Gulf of Mexico off the state of Tabasco, covering the Amoca, Tecoalli, and Miztón fields.

Baldemar Hernández, CNH commissioner, pointed out that these investments are very important for oil development.

“I congratulate ENI for this important investment that reflects the presence of the private sector in combination with the investments being made by Pemex. This is leading to the work plan carried out during 2024 and continuing in 2025, which will undoubtedly benefit the people of Mexico,” he said.
