At least 14 other people were seriously injured in the severe accident between a bus and a trailer on the Villahermosa-Escárcega highway.

A passenger bus that departed from Cárdenas, Tabasco, and was heading to Cancún collided with a trailer early this morning while traveling on the Villahermosa-Escárcega highway, near the municipal board of Francisco Villa, better known as Mamantel, in Campeche.

The impact was brutal, resulting in eight people being crushed to death and at least 14 more being seriously injured. After being rescued, they were taken to a hospital in Escárcega, Campeche.

What Caused the Crash on the Villahermosa-Escárcega Highway?

The bus with license plate 759RR3 belongs to the Hernández transportation line. According to preliminary data from rescue teams, the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered into the opposite lane, presumably due to fatigue, but it is also said that it was due to brake failure.

Due to the attention to the accident, traffic on the highway section was interrupted for hours. According to reports, the accident occurred at approximately 1:30 AM at kilometer 237, near the junction with Candelaria.
