A mural of gratitude to the doctors of the IMSS Jalisco for their work during the pandemic
A mural demonstrates the love of doctors for their profession and the daily effort to fight COVID-19 in the midst of the pandemic . The plastic artist from Jalisco, Carlos Alberto García Hernández, was in charge of immortalizing the exhausted but hopeful face of the medical staff. Talking about them made him even more sensitive.
The artist, who has been the winner of multiple national and international recognitions, explained that when observing the commitment shown by medical personnel in the midst of the global health emergency and the affection they showed to patients, it contrasted with the attacks that he knew they suffered in the street just wearing his white coat.
In order to carry out his work with inspiration, García Hernández learned about the treatment areas of COVID-19, Intensive Care and became involved in the dynamics of the Medical Unit.
Mural in Mexico City honours nurses helping in fight against COVID-19
Students from the Faculty of Arts and Design of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) have applied the last strokes to a mural on the façade of the National School of Nursing and Obstetrics, dedicated to nurses who have worked throughout the coronavirus crisis in Mexico.
“It’s a beautiful feeling,” says one nurse upon seeing the mural in Mexico City, which is over 100 metres long.
A nurse holds the Mexican Republic in her hands, wraps it in a white blanket; Around it, the colors green, orange and red stand out, representing the risk traffic light for Covid-19 in the country; On the lower left side is “Applezman”, the signature of Sergio Morelos, a graffiti artist who dedicates his murals to all medical personnel.
“It’s paying homage to all those heroes, not to Superman or Batman, but to those who really save lives. I think they deserve it, and not only because of this type of pandemic, but because there are injured and sick people daily, and they give their lives, it is their passion. Just as one dedicates themselves to painting, they dedicate themselves to rescuing lives. It is to thank them for the fight they do every day, ” one of the artists said while putting the finishing touches on a mural.
