These entrepreneurs have managed to position themselves in the rough business environment inside and outside the country

We present to you the Mexican families that have put our country up high and have great weight throughout the world. 

The slims 

With one of the largest companies in the telecommunications area, Carlos Slim has amassed a fortune of 72 billion dollars. Don Carlos married  Soumaya Domit with whom he had six children: Carlos, Marco Antonio, Patrick, Soumaya, Vanessa and Johanna. 

Carlos Slim Domit is married to María Elena Torruco, he is the oldest son of the businessman, he is 49 years old and has a degree in Business Administration from Universidad Anáhuac. He is president of América Móvil, Telmex, Grupo Carso, Grupo Sanborns and Promotora Musical. 

Marco Antonio Slim Domit is married to Ximena Serrano. Marco is 48 years old and, like his brother, has a degree in Business Administration from Universidad Anáhuac. He is president of Grupo Inbursa and IDEAL, and he is also an advisor in Stock Market Investor and Inbursa insurance. 

Patrick Slim Domit is Don Carlo’s third son and his wife is María Aramburu. He followed in the footsteps of his brothers and also has a degree in Business Administration from Universidad Anáhuac. He is vice president of América Movil and Grupo Carso; He is the commercial director of Telmex, president of Grupo Televisa and advisor of Telmex, Minera Frisco, and IDEAL.

Soumaya Slim Domit married Fernando Romero and is currently vice president of the Soumaya Museum. She also studied Art History at Universidad Anáhuac. 

Vanessa Slim Domit joined Daniel Hajj Aboumrad in marriage. He is in charge of the Overcoming Association for Mexico and Latin America. 

Johanna Slim Domit is married to Arturo Elías Ayub; She has a degree in Preschool Education. She is the holder of the Initial Education Program at Fundación Slim and advisor of Grupo Sanborns. 

The Larrea

The Larrea family is the second richest family in Mexico according to Forbes magazine.  Germán Larrea Mota Velasco is a mining mogul and maintains a low profile, so much that there are few photos of him.

The little information that can be found of Germán Larrea indicates that he is married and has at least two children, who remain in strict privacy. He owns 75% of the mining and infrastructure company of Larrea Grupo México, owns Southern Copper in Peru and Asarco in the US, Infrastructure and Transportation Mexico and owns 30% Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico.

The Baillères 

Owners of companies such as El Palacio de Hierro, Peñoles, Fresnillo, GNP Seguros, Casa de Bolsa Valores Mexicanos, Tane, Financial Solutions Valmex and Profuturo, are consolidated as the third richest family in Mexico. Alberto Baillères is married to Doña María Teresa Gual with whom he had: Alejandro, Juan Pablo, Raúl, Xavier, Mauricio, and Teresa.

Alejandro Baillères Gual , the successor to Don Alberto Baillères, studied at Culver Military Academy in Indiana and is Chairman of the Board of Directors of BAL and Executive Vice President of Grupo BAL. 

Teresa Baillères is the only woman heir to Don Alberto and is vice president of Grupo Palacio de Hierro SAB de CV.

On the other hand, Raúl and Juan Pablo Baillères Gual also work for Grupo Bal. Raúl is in charge of strategic information while Juan Pablo manages the livestock companies. 

The Salinas Pliego

The head of the Ricardo Salinas Pliego family is an entrepreneur, CEO of Grupo Salinas and the fourth richest man in our country. With companies like Elektra, Salinas and Rocha, Banco Azteca and Seguros Azteca, he is a Mexican visionary who takes entrepreneurship to another level. 

The businessman has a total of 6 children, three from his first marriage to  Ninfa Sada Garza and three others with his current partner  María Laura Medina

Ninfa Salinas Sada, Benjamín Salinas Sada, and Hugo Salinas Sada are his eldest children. Ninfa is focused on politics, while her brother Benjamin works on TV Azteca. 

On the other hand, are Mariano Mateo Salinas Medina, Cristóbal Patricio Salinas Medina and Ricardo Emilio Salinas Medina, the small children of the CEO of Grupo Salinas.  

The Rivera Gonda 

According to the Bloomberg firm, Eva Gonda de Rivera is one of the 400 richest people in the world. Although her fortune is due to an inheritance from her late husband,  Eugenio Garza Lagüera, former president of FEMSA (the largest Coca-Cola bottler in Latin America and distributor), Eva Gonda and her daughters have administered FEMSA to the extent of trading on the stock exchange of New York Securities; that is, they have grown the business. 

Doña Eva has five daughters and one of them:  Eva María Garza Lagüera is married to José Antonio ‘El Diablo’ Fernández, president of FEMSA. 

FEMSA currently wants to reach the United States to acquire bottlers from The Bottling Investment Group, but not only that, it is estimated that the owner of the Oxxo chain adds 1,000 new stores per year until 2020. 

The Aramburuzabala

María Asunción Aramburuzabala is the heiress of the founder of the Grupo Modelo brewery. Maria, together with her sister and her mother, created Tresalia Capital, which means “three allies”, as a symbol of the family union of these three. The Aramburuzabala are considered the queens and business pioneers in Mexico, according to Forbes occupy the sixth place in the list of the richest families in Mexico. Tresalia Capital diversifies direct investment businesses and invests in sectors with high growth potential. 

María was married to businessman Paulo Patricio Zapata; He subsequently married the former US ambassador to Mexico, the Hispanic Tony Garza, with whom he only lasted five years. The businesswoman has a 27-year-old son, Pablo Zapata, who follows in his mother’s footsteps. Pablo studied Economics and Finance at the Methodist University of South Texas. Currently, Pablo works at KIO Networks, dedicated to information technologies. 

The Beckmann 

One of the most quoted companies on the Stock Exchange and the sixth richest family in the country. After inheriting the Tequila family business, at 32, Juan Francisco Beckmann Vidal led José Cuervo to international success. He was in the creation of the José Cuervo Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting the vulnerable population in educational, social and cultural issues.

Juan Francisco married Dora María Legorreta de Beckmann, with whom he had 3 children. Karen Virginia Beckmann Legorreta and Dora María Beckmann Legorreta own their own line of jewelry and shoes called Crane by KB and POLPO by Karé Be; while Juan Domingo Beckmann Legorreta follows in the footsteps of his father in charge of the family tequila; He is married to Laura Laviada Ten-Barroso.

Gonzalez Moreno

The children of the tortilla entrepreneur  Roberto González, better known as Maseco, own one of the most important consumer industries in the world; They also own Banorte. 

Roberto Jorge González Alcalá, son of which Roberto González had out of wedlock and who was CEO of GRUMA in Mexico and Latin America, resigned in 2012 to his post after the death of his father. Thus Juan Antonio González Moreno has been CEO and head of GRUMA, which has a value of at least 5 billion dollars.

The Servitje

Lorenzo Servitje was founder of Grupo Bimbo, today considered the largest bakery in the world and which began as a small bakery. Lorenzo Servitje’s wife was Carmen Montull, daughter of the owner of Cerillera La Central.

The businessman had eight children, one of them is Daniel Servitje, current president and CEO of Grupo Bimbo. The fortune of Daniel Servitje is 4,200 billion dollars and has the 310 position worldwide. In 2011, he was number eight in the list: “The 100 most important entrepreneurs in Mexico” of the magazine “Expansión”.

His sister  Marinela Servitje was director of the Papalote Museo del Niño and received the Woman of the Year medal.

The Chedraui

With more than 224 branches throughout the Republic and with a fortune of more than two billion dollars, businessman Antonio Chedraui Obeso and his son José Antonio Chedraui Eguia, are positioned within the most influential and wealthy men in our country. The largest commercial chain in Mexico originated in Jalapa when Lázaro Chedraui, a Lebanese immigrant opened the El Puerto de Beirut haberdashery that years later would be the Chedraui Commercial Group. Listed on the Stock Exchange, Grupo Chedraui has started operations in California, Nevada, and Arizona. 

The Chedraui Obeso brothers have also dabbled in politics in their native Veracruz.
